STUDENT SOCIAL & STUDENT CONGRESS DESIGN COMPETITION
1:00pm – 6:00pm
Student Social - For a majority of students this will be their first chance to meet and network with other SNAME student members. The student social is designed as an “icebreaker” to allow students to try out and hone their networking skills amongst their peers in a friendly environment. The popular and well attended Student Design Competition pits teams of students against each other designing, building, and running “sea trials” (and making design adjustments), in a contest for the best boat made of provided materials that meets design requirements kept secret up until the start of the competition. Time constraints plus keen minds and lots of creativity result in a hotbed of student design, construction, testing and trials in a pool of water set up on the Expo floor on Thursday. The winning team receives both recognition and an award.
