Annual Banquet

The Annual Banquet, which will be held on Thursday, October 22nd will feature presentations of the Society’s most prestigious awards for outstanding accomplishments in the marine field. We are extremely fortunate to have our very distinguished Annual Banquet speaker, Brent Dibner. Mr. Dibner is the President of Dibner Maritime Associates LLC and has an illustrious career in the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering industry.

Topic of Remarks

Mr. Dibner will address the causes and implications of the current states international and US domestic shipping markets for ship owners and the broader shipbuilding industry as well as for the US ship design community. His remarks will include identification of major challenges and potential solutions facing US naval architects and marine engineers and their firms within the new order of the 21st century.

Brief Biography

Brent Dibner is the President of Dibner Maritime Associates LLC. He earned a BSE in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan in 1973, served as an apprentice at Swan Hunter Shipyards in England and worked as a naval architect for John J. McMullen Associates and Israel Shipyards in Haifa, Israel on commercial and military ship designs. He earned an MBA from Harvard University in 1977 and then began his career in management consulting at the former Temple, Barker and Sloane in 1977 and retired from its successor firm in 2002 as a senior partner and director of the majority of its services to the maritime industry. He founded Dibner Maritime Associates in that year.

For 32 years he has provided strategic counsel to a wide range of clients including ship owners, cargo interests, the US and Royal Navies, marine manufacturers, shipbuilders and repairs, and industry associations around the world. His assignments have been diverse and included serving as counselor to Todd Shipyards and its creditors during its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, providing post-merger integration support to Royal Caribbean after its acquisition of Celebrity Cruise Line, and assisting scores of companies to grow, gain and maintain strategic control, and improve performance through internal initiatives as well as mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
